How to Show Music Visuals on a TV or Projector

The short answer: connect the TV or projector to your computer as a second display, drag the ProVisHD window onto it, and press F11 for fullscreen. The visuals react to whatever music plays - and if the music isn't coming from the computer, switch to microphone mode and let the visuals follow the room. The details:

Step 1 - Connect the big screen

1. Plug the TV or projector into your laptop or PC (HDMI, USB-C or a wireless display).
2. Set it as an extended display (Windows: Win+P → Extend; macOS: System Settings → Displays), so the big screen is free for visuals while you keep control on the laptop.
3. Mirroring works too, if you'd rather see exactly what the room sees.

Step 2 - Put the visuals up

1. Open ProVisHD and drag its window onto the TV/projector display.
2. Press F11 for fullscreen (on Windows, double-clicking the window works too).
3. Pick a look for the night: arrow keys cycle the 29 visualizers, Z switches modes, and number/letter keys jump straight to a specific one.

Step 3 - Feed it music, either way

• Music plays from the same computer (Spotify, YouTube, mp3 playlist): nothing to configure - the visuals react automatically.
• Music comes from elsewhere (a DJ booth, vinyl, a stereo): switch the sound source to microphone (Esc → sound source) with a USB or Bluetooth mic - or headphones with a mic - and the visuals follow the sound in the room. Mic setup help is on the support page.

Party tips

• Tune the punch: + and - adjust how hard the visuals react to bass - useful because rooms are louder than headphones.
• Play VJ: the B, N, M, comma and period keys morph the visuals live; give a guest the keyboard and watch what happens.
• Calmer corners: for dinner-party energy, pick a gentler style like Zen or Ocean Waves instead of the glitchy ones.
• Keep the screen awake: disable sleep/screensaver on the computer for the night.
