How to Make a Music Video from an MP3

The short answer: you don't need a video editor. Play the mp3 on your computer, run ProVisHD, pick one of its 29 visualizers and hit record - the app saves the moving visuals together with your audio as an MP4 you can upload straight to Instagram, Facebook or YouTube. Step by step:

Step 1 - Set the scene

1. Install ProVisHD (Windows / Mac) and open it.
2. Queue your mp3 in any player - a media player, a browser, even your DAW. If it plays on the computer, the visualizer hears it.
3. Pick the look: arrow keys switch between the 29 visualizers, Z toggles each one's second mode, and + / - tune how hard the visuals hit on bass.
4. Optional but recommended for artists: overlay your logo or artist name from the app menu - it will be part of the video.

Step 2 - Record

1. Start the track, then click the record button - or Shift+click it to start recording instantly without the options dialog.
2. Perform if you like: the B, N, M, comma and period keys modify the visuals live while recording, so the video can build with the song.
3. Press Esc to stop - a save dialog appears and the MP4 (visuals + audio, currently up to 15 minutes) is saved locally.

Step 3 - Post it

• The MP4 is saved in a format compatible with popular social networks - upload it yourself to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or anywhere else.
• Same song, different post? Re-record with another visualizer or mode - 29 x 2 styles plus live modifiers mean the track never has to look the same twice.
• Rights note: only publish videos of music you have the rights to - automatic if it's your own track; not the case for most streamed music.
